Annual Meeting Important Announcement – Student Scholarship Recipient – Brighten a Child’s Christmas Ronald McDonald House Update

Annual Meeting

It should come as no surprise now when someone announces a change of plans. It seems that is all when have done this year.

With the rising case counts in Knox County and surrounding counties, I cannot in good conscious ask all of you to gather together for a meeting. The most important thing to me is your safety.

We have come up with Plan B, which is to have our annual meeting via Zoom on Thursday, December 10, 2020, beginning at noon.  Lewis Thomason has graciously provided us access to their Pro Zoom account so we will be able to take nominations from the floor, have discussion, and vote on pending matters.

If you have not already send in your RSVP , please do so by sending an email to RSVP@smparalegal.org by end of day on Tuesday, December 8, 2020.  All members who have already sent in their RSVP are noted and you will not need to respond a second time. I will send out a Zoom meeting link to those who are attending by 9:00 a.m. December 10 along with a meeting agenda.

If you have any questions or comments about this change, please feel free to email me at Karen@FoxLawTN.org or reach out to any Executive Committee member.

Student Scholarship Recipient

Congratulations to the winner of our SMPA Student Scholarship: Shanece McClendon! Ms. McClendon is studying to earn her Associate of Applied Science in Paralegal Studies at Pellissippi State Community College and is expected to graduate in 2022. Shanece enjoys volunteering at her church, participating in community service activities, and spending time with her 3-year-old son. She is focused, determined, and detail oriented which will take her far in both her studies and throughout her career. We are so excited to see her continue her journey through Pellissippi State’s program and look forward to welcoming her into the Paralegal profession! Way to go, Shanece!

Brighten a Child’s Christmas Ronald McDonald House Update

All of you made my heart sing today!

I received news this afternoon that 11 members have already made their donation to Ronald McDonald House! That is 12% participation our first week! The tree is still looking pretty dim, but if you look closely you can begin to see some green around the bottom of the tree.

Don’t forget! Donate right now! It doesn’t matter how much. Each donation is a treasure.

Several of you have asked if you can send in your donation by mail. Of course!

Smoky Mountain Paralegal Association. P. O. Box 445, Knoxville, TN 37901

Every member counts! We need a beautifully lit, green tree by December 20. 2020.
